The View from the Plantation Course

Kapalua is famous for golf.  The resort is home to two courses, the Bay Course and the Plantation Course.  The Bay Course is situated within the heart of the resort, and you will find the Ironwoods, the Golf Villas, the Ridge Villas, Pineapple Hill, and Pineapple Hill Estates all nestled along its fairways.  The Plantation Course is further north, and is surrounded by some of Kapalua's finest estate homes in the Plantation Estates.

The Bay Course
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane, this is a 6,600 yard, par 72 course. The course record is 62 set by Mike Sullivan in 1995 at the Lincoln-Mercury Kapalua International.

The Plantation Course
The Plantation Course was designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore.  The PGA TOUR's season opening event, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions takes place here each year in January, featuring some of the best golfers in the world.  The course record is 62 set by K.J. Choi in 2003 at the Mercedes-Benz Championship.

The Golf Academy
The Golf Academy attracts beginners and seasoned players alike to its state of the art teaching facility.  Designed by Hale Irwin, the Golf Academy has been rated amongst the top 25 schools by Golf Magazine, and instruction is provided by some of Hawaii's most well regarded professionals. The situated in the heart of the resort, and features:

  • 85,000 square feet of grass teeing area
  • Several practice putting greens
  • Greenside fairway practice bunkers
  • 18-hole putting course
  • Ample target flags and greens
  • Specialty short game area
  • Sheltered tee area
  • Indoor hitting bay with digital video analysis
